Today the American media is loaded with articles and news segments about any and all dangers that the American people face. The media loves these stories of fear as they usually get high ratings, and read by millions of Americans who are weary of almost anything; plane flight, terrorists, drugs, evil kids, etc. In “The Culture of Fear”, Glassner touches on many issues and presents the facts about how the media loads their news coverage with negative stories and how they use Fear to get readers and viewers hooked.

Glassner uses the pure facts to debunk media fear mongering by using numbers and not percentages to prove how many reporters exaggerate for effect by doing exactly what I said above, and he explains why percentages can be very misleading and why reporters must use the actually numbers to back up their stories. The book has a very liberal feel (one of the reasons I liked it) but is not at all biased in any way: this book tells the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but, with cold hard facts. A must Read, especially in times like the ones we are in today.

TripleOneSixDesign: Site Launch

Well after working 15 Japanese trained monkeys overtime at a very low pay rate (12 Bananas a Day) and slaving over notepad staring at countless lines of code, my design portfolio site is operational. Coded with XHTML and CSS, and mostly web standard complaint, it is able to display my portfolio amongst other things that may interest you (or not, if you suck).

Of course, since I have been working on it for so long, and as your typical designer, I already want to (and am) working on the next layout. For now though, the current one will do, and will stay up for at least 6 months. I must warn you, Internetcrapxplorer turns my code into shit, and displays the site all wrong – thus, please do the world a favor and get Firefox or Opera to enjoy my beautiful website, or don’t and lose out on my greatness as a designer.
