Fallout 3

Yesterday I installed my own copy of Fallout 3, mind you I have played none of the previous titles which bare the same name. My interest was peaked by the post apocalyptic nuclear world genre the game is set in, which the game recreates pretty well.

You begin seeing yourself born asa baby in an underground bunker, you get to choose your name, race, and what your “genetic features” you will have when you grow up. Now after you do that three years passes and you learn the basics of the game plus further set up your character by applying points to certain skills. Jump ahead to your ninth birthday and you mingle and talk with the staff and inhabitants of the bunker, including your love interest, the “Overseers” daughter. Anyhow more years skip by and the plot thickens, and you must escape the base to go out in the wasteland and look for your father (who distinctly leaves you a message telling you not to).

The game play is a lot like Half-Life 2, it even feels like the same engine. The graphics are of course top notch, and the world of post nuclear America is done fantastic. Though I haven’t played that far into the game myself I will recommend it for anyone who likes first person shooter/adventure/puzzle solving games, a lot like Half Life. Overall I give the Fallout 3 four and a half out of five.
